Kite Exhibit
YRPA is being honored in 2024 and 2025 by an exhibit of stunning, custom-made art kites in “Go With the Flow: A Tribute to YRPA.” Organized by former board member and long-time friend of YRPA, Terry Zee Lee, the exhibit features 18 kites at 10 locations throughout Billings. See the map of kite locations and learn about the kites and artists here by clicking on the button below.
Trail Derailment
In June of 2023, a railroad bridge near Reed Point, Montana (60 miles upstream from Billings) collapsed, dumping a series of train cars into the river. The train cars were carrying sulfur and asphalt, which entered the Yellowstone and have been found contaminating the water and banks for dozens of miles downstream. YRPA and a coalition of partners have been engaged with Montana Natural Resource Damage Program and the Unified Joint Command, pushing for transparency and accountability in the cleanup process, damage assessment, and compensation for damages to the lands and waters of Montana. Communication documents can be found here.
